Agricultural gearbox shaft: lead time halved
By planning heat treatment and grinding in one order, we cut a gearbox shaft's lead time from nine weeks to four.

Sample case study: the customer and figures are fictional.
Challenge
An agricultural machinery maker in Poland sourced a gearbox shaft from three suppliers for turning, heat treatment and grinding. Parts waited between companies, and pre-season deliveries were missed.
Solution
We do the turning and grinding and schedule induction hardening weekly with our partner plant. Roundness and runout on bearing seats are measured in every batch and sent with the hardness report.
Result
Lead time fell from nine weeks to four. Roundness on the bearing seat improved from 0.008 mm to 0.003 mm, and the customer now deals with one supplier and one set of documents.
Before and after
| Measure | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Suppliers | 3 | 1 |
| Lead time | 9 weeks | 4 weeks |
| Roundness | 0.008 mm | 0.003 mm |
